Ronne Arnold (1938 – 13 February 2020) was an amazing American performer. He was also known as Ronnie Arnold. Ronne had a long career in Australia, lasting about 70 years! He was a talented dancer, a person who creates dances (a choreographer), a teacher, a singer, and an actor. He even started his own dance company.

Ronne Arnold's Early Life and Training

Ronne Arnold was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1938. His family taught him jazz dance. His first dance teacher, Nadia Chilkovsky Nahumck, taught him many styles. These included American classical, modern, primitive, and Hindu dance. He learned these at the Philadelphia Dance Academy. In 1959, he finished college. He earned a degree in music with a focus on dance from the University of the Arts.

Moving to Australia and His Career

In 1960, Ronne joined the touring show of West Side Story in Australia. He was offered a part in another musical, The Most Happy Fella. He decided to stay in Australia forever!

Ronne became a very famous teacher of jazz and modern dance. He created dance routines for a nightclub in Sydney called Chequers. He also performed in big shows. In 1974, he was the main character in the Australian show Pippin. He even acted with Carlotta in Cinderella at the Sydney Opera House. He played the evil stepmother!

Ronne also started the Contemporary Dance Company of Australia. He was its artistic director from 1967 to 1972. Later, he worked at the National Aboriginal and Islander Skills Development Association. He was the academic course director there from 1986 to 2003. After getting a master's degree from the University of Sydney, he taught at the Wesley Institute.

In August 2013, Ronne Arnold received a special award. It was a lifetime achievement award at the Australian Dance Awards. This award honored his long and successful career. He also acted on TV. He had regular roles in shows like Number 96 and Holiday Island.

Ronne Arnold passed away on February 13, 2020. He was 81 or 82 years old. He died at Blue Mountains Hospital in Katoomba, New South Wales.
