Rose Frain is a talented artist from Edinburgh, Scotland. She creates many kinds of art, like paintings, sculptures, and special art setups called installations. Her work has been shown all over the world!

Amazing Art Projects
Rose Frain has created many interesting art projects. Her art often makes people think about important topics.
Art Around the World
From 1999 to 2000, Rose was a special artist at The British School at Rome. There, she made an installation called Radio Vaticana. This art piece was about radio signals from the Vatican.
In 2007, she won a big award from the Scottish Arts Council. This award helped her create more art.
For the Edinburgh Art Festival in 2009, Rose made Alexandria Light. This installation was inspired by her visit to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina library in Egypt.
Special Art Books
Rose also creates unique artist books. One of her books, Sappho Fragments, Love songs to Adonis and the community of women, is now part of the special collections at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
Exhibitions and Shows
In 2011, her solo installation What Escapes was shown at Goldsmiths, University of London. A solo installation means it was her own art show.
From 2014 to 2015, another solo installation was shown at the Victoria and Albert Museum. It was called This Time in History, What Escapes (2014- 1914).
In 2017, her installation This Time in History, What Escapes /Afghanistan was part of the Summerhall Edinburgh Festival.
About Her Work
In 2019, a special book about Rose Frain's art was published. It's called a Catalogue Raisonné. The book, titled Rose Frain, ISBN: 978-1-9161555-0-3, shows many of her artworks. It covers over five decades of her art making.
This book was made possible with help from Creative Scotland. It includes lots of pictures and texts written by Rose herself.
Related Exhibitions
To celebrate the book, there were special art shows. These shows happened at the Glasgow Women's Library in 2019. They also took place at Newcastle University and Goldsmiths, University of London.
Teaching and Advising
Rose Frain has shared her knowledge with others. She used to be an art advisor for the Scottish Arts Council. This group is now called Creative Scotland.
She has also taught art at Northumbria University and Sheffield Hallam University. Rose is often invited to be a guest artist at places like The School of Visual Arts in New York. She also visited The Institute of Romance Studies at the University of London.
Current Projects
Rose Frain's ongoing project is called This Time in History. She also received a special bursary from Art360 Foundation Scotland. This bursary helps to preserve and share her amazing art for the future.
