Rosebud, also known as Sicanġu in the Lakhota language, is a special community in Todd County, South Dakota, United States. It's called a "census-designated place" (CDP), which means it's a specific area counted by the government. In 2020, about 1,455 people lived here.
Rosebud is located within the Rosebud Indian Reservation. This area is the home of the Rosebud Sioux tribe. Many important tribal offices are found in Rosebud. These include the Indian Health Service, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Tribal BIA Police. There are also departments for tribal land and managing forests and wildfires.

The Name Rosebud
The names "Rosebud" and "Sioux" are not originally from the Lakota language. The name "Rosebud" was given to this area in 1877. It was chosen because many wild rosebuds grew there. This site was set up as a Federal Agency for the Sicangu People.
