Rosedale is a small town located in Florida Township, which is part of Parke County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. In 2010, the town had a population of 725 people.

History of Rosedale
When Parke County was first created in 1821, Rosedale was the very first village there. It even served as the county seat, which is like the main town where the county government is located.
The town was named after Chauncey Rose. He was a pioneer, meaning one of the first people to settle in this area. He moved to the township in 1819.
Later, the county seat moved to another town called Armiesburg. Then, in 1822, it moved again to Rockville, where it has stayed ever since.
The first court meeting for the county happened in Rosedale. The town grew and did well for a while. However, after 1835, more businesses started moving to Rockville.
In 1861, a post office was opened in Rosedale. It is still open and serving the community today.
Geography of Rosedale
Rosedale is located close to the southern edge of Parke County. It is about 10 miles (16 kilometers) away from Rockville, which is the county seat.
The town is also less than 1 mile (1.6 kilometers) south of a waterway called Big Raccoon Creek.
According to information from the 2010 census, Rosedale covers a total area of about 0.39 square miles (1.01 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
