The Rosedale River is a cool river located in the City of Kawartha Lakes in Central Ontario, Canada. It's part of a huge water system called the Great Lakes Basin. It's also a key part of the Trent–Severn Waterway, which is a famous route for boats.
Exploring the Rosedale River
The Rosedale River got its name from Rosa Dale. She was the wife of John Cameron, one of the first people to settle in the area near Fenelon Falls.
Where Does the Rosedale River Flow?
The Rosedale River starts at the eastern side of Balsam Lake. This is near a small community also called Rosedale.
From there, the river flows east. It goes under a road known as Kawartha Lakes Road 35. After this, the river splits into two different paths.
Two Paths to Cameron Lake
Both paths of the Rosedale River lead to Cameron Lake. This is where the river ends.
- One path is a natural, winding channel. It curves and twists as it flows north.
- The other path is a straight, man-made canal. This southern canal is home to Lock 35, which is called "Rosedale Lock." This lock is an important part of the Trent–Severn Waterway, helping boats move between different water levels.
