Roswell Tripp's Early Life and Service
Roswell H. Tripp was born on January 12, 1840. His birthplace was Jefferson County, New York. When he was older, he joined the Union Army during the American Civil War. He became a first lieutenant in the 27th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment.
Tripp was part of several important battles. These included the Battle of Okolona and the Battle of Prairie D'Ane. He also fought in the Battle of Jenkins' Ferry. Later, he was involved in the Siege of Vicksburg and the Battle of Spanish Fort.
After the war, Roswell Tripp married Charlotte Daharsh. This happened on April 28, 1867. They had three children together. Roswell Tripp passed away on September 3, 1883. He died in Hingham, Wisconsin.

Roswell Tripp also served in the government. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1881. The Assembly is a group of people who make laws for the state. Tripp was part of the Republican Party.
