Rotarun Ski Area is a small, friendly place to ski and snowboard in central Idaho. It is located less than three miles (5 km) west of Hailey in Blaine County. This ski area is known for being a fun and affordable spot for families and young people to enjoy winter sports.

Discover Rotarun Ski Area
Rotarun Ski Area is a special place for winter fun. It sits on the north-facing slopes of Art Richards Mountain. The top of the mountain is 5,895 feet (1,797 meters) above sea level. Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy a vertical drop of 475 feet (145 meters) down its treeless runs.
Ski Lifts and History
Rotarun has been open since the 1950s, helping people learn to ski. In 1998, a modern Poma lift was installed. This lift helps skiers get up the mountain easily. Before the Poma lift, a J-bar lift was used starting in 1964. Even earlier, the main way up the hill was a simple rope tow.
Why Rotarun is Special
Rotarun Ski Area offers a great way to enjoy alpine skiing without spending a lot of money. It is a much more affordable choice compared to the famous Sun Valley resort, which is about 15 miles (24 km) north.
Rotarun is also unique because it offers night skiing. You can ski under the stars on Wednesday and Friday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. It is the only ski area in the region that offers night skiing within a three-hour drive.
The ski area is supported by many helpful people. Community volunteers and donations keep Rotarun running smoothly. This makes it a true community effort.
Affordable Fun for Everyone
Rotarun Ski Area makes skiing and snowboarding accessible to many. In the 2012–2013 season, daily lift tickets were very affordable. An adult ticket cost $15, and tickets for youths (ages 6–17) were $10.
Season passes were also a great deal. An adult season pass cost $75, while a youth pass was $50. Families could get a season pass for everyone for just $150. These prices show Rotarun's commitment to being a community-friendly ski area.
