Rowan Alexander Barrett Sr. (born November 24, 1972) is a former professional basketball player from Canada. He played as a shooting guard and small forward. Rowan was known for being a top scorer in different leagues. Today, he is the General Manager for the Canadian men's national basketball team.

Early Basketball Years
Rowan Barrett was born in Scarborough, a part of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He started playing basketball in high school. He attended West Hill Collegiate Institute where he played for the school team.
College Basketball Journey
After high school, Rowan went on to play NCAA Division I college basketball. He played for St. John's University with the St. John's Red Storm team. He played there from 1992 to 1996.
Professional Career Highlights
Rowan Barrett signed contracts with NBA teams like the Toronto Raptors and Philadelphia 76ers. However, he did not play in any regular season games for these teams.
He played professionally for many clubs around the world. Some of these teams include:
- Etosa Alicante in Spain (1997–98)
- Boca Juniors in Argentina (1998–99)
- Cocodrilos de Caracas in Venezuela (1999, 2001, 2003)

Rowan was a top scorer in several leagues. In 2002, he was the top scorer in the Israel Basketball Premier League. He scored 25.5 points per game. He also had a game where he scored 42 points and grabbed 10 rebounds! He was also the top scorer in the FIBA Saporta Cup during the 2000–01 season. This was a major European basketball competition.
Playing for Team Canada
Rowan Barrett proudly represented his country, playing for the senior Canadian national basketball team.
He played in important international tournaments:
- The 1998 FIBA World Championship
- The 2000 Summer Olympic Games
- The 2002 FIBA World Championship
He also played in the FIBA AmeriCup several times (1993, 1997, 1999, 2003). In addition, he competed in the 1999 Pan American Games and the 2003 Pan American Games.
Life After Playing: Executive Role
After his playing career, Rowan Barrett continued to work in basketball. He is currently the Executive Vice President and General Manager for Canada Basketball. This means he helps manage and lead the national basketball programs for Canada.
Family Life
Rowan Barrett was born in Scarborough, Toronto and has Jamaican family roots. His son, RJ Barrett, is also a very talented basketball player. RJ was ranked as one of the best high school players in 2018. He played college basketball at Duke University for one year. Then, he was chosen as the 3rd overall pick by the New York Knicks in the 2019 NBA draft.
