Rowland G. Garrett (born July 16, 1950) is a former American professional basketball player. He was a talented forward who stood 6 feet 6 inches tall. Rowland grew up in Canton, Mississippi. He played college basketball at Florida State University. In 1972, he helped his team, the Florida State Seminoles, reach the championship game of the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. They played against UCLA but lost the game 81-76.
After college, Rowland Garrett was chosen by the Chicago Bulls in the 1972 NBA draft. He was the 78th player picked overall. He didn't play much in his first year with the Bulls. However, he earned the respect of his coach, Dick Motta, and stayed with the team for several years. During the first three games of the 1975–76 season, he scored a total of 51 points and grabbed 21 rebounds. This included an amazing game on October 28, 1975, where he scored 22 points and got 14 rebounds in a win against the Seattle SuperSonics.

Playing for Different Teams
On November 27, 1975, Rowland Garrett was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers. This trade involved him and Nate Thurmond moving to Cleveland. In return, the Bulls received Steve Patterson and Eric Fernsten. Rowland played for parts of two seasons with the Cavaliers.
Later, on January 14, 1977, he was traded again. This time, he went to the Milwaukee Bucks along with two future draft picks. The Cavaliers received Elmore Smith and Gary Brokaw in this trade.
Challenges and End of NBA Career
Rowland Garrett found it hard to get much playing time with the Milwaukee Bucks. He was released from the team before the 1977–78 season began. His time with the Bucks was his last in the NBA. Over his five-year NBA career, he averaged 5.1 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
Life After Basketball
Rowland Garrett was one of several former players who took part in special events for the Chicago Bulls. He joined their 20th and 25th anniversary games, which were held in 1985 and 1990. As of 2007, Rowland Garrett owned a company that makes chemicals in his home state of Mississippi.
