Roy Stewart (born May 15, 1925 – died October 27, 2008) was an actor from Jamaica who later lived in Britain. He started his career doing exciting stunt work. After that, he became well-known for his roles in movies and TV shows.
In 1954, Roy Stewart opened his own gym in Powis Square in North Kensington. He also managed a Caribbean club and restaurant called The Globe on Talbot Road. He continued to run The Globe until he passed away. Roy Stewart played Quarrel Junior in the James Bond movie Live and Let Die (1973). He also appeared in many other films and TV shows.

Roy Stewart's Early Life
Roy Stewart was one of seven brothers. He was born in Jamaica. In 1948, he moved to Britain. At first, he wanted to become a doctor. However, something about acting or a TV commercial changed his mind.
Acting Career in Film and TV
Roy Stewart's career began with a TV commercial. He played a snake charmer for Fry's Turkish Delight. Later, he worked as an extra in movies. He also did a lot of stunt work. He became one of the top Black actors and stuntmen in Britain.

One of his first movie roles was in The Mummy (1959). He played a slave in this film. In 1973, he played Quarrel Junior in the James Bond movie Live and Let Die. This movie starred Roger Moore. The film was shot in Jamaica, a place Roy Stewart had not visited for many years. He found the heat challenging and was surprised by how much Jamaica had changed.
One of his last movie roles was as Pomeroy. This was in Dangerous Davies: The Last Detective. It was a TV movie made in 1981.

Roy Stewart's Businesses
In 1954, Roy Stewart opened a gym in Powis Square. This gym was special because it welcomed people of all races to train there. Some actors also trained at his gym. One famous person who trained there was David Prowse. He was a weightlifter who later played Darth Vader in Star Wars.
Stewart also ran a nightclub in Bayswater. Famous musicians like Jimi Hendrix, Van Morrison, and Bob Marley visited his club.
The Globe Restaurant and Club
In the 1960s, Roy Stewart opened a Caribbean restaurant and bar. It was called The Globe. The Globe was located at 103 Talbot Road. It is said that Jimi Hendrix was seen there the night before he passed away in September 1970. Roy Stewart managed The Globe until his death in October 2008.
Today, The Globe is still open. It is one of London's oldest running nightclubs. It also has a Caribbean restaurant upstairs.
Roy Stewart's Passing
Roy Stewart had heart disease for some time. He passed away on October 27, 2008. He was 83 years old.
