Rudolf "Rudi" Gramlich (born June 6, 1908 – died March 14, 1988) was a German football player. He also became a football club chairman. During World War II, he was part of a group called the SS. After the war, he was questioned but later released. He then became the chairman of Eintracht Frankfurt, a famous football club. The club had a very successful time when he was in charge. In 2020, the club decided to remove special honors given to him because of his past links to the Nazi Party.

His Football Career
Before World War II, Rudolf Gramlich played football for Eintracht Frankfurt. He was a talented player. He also played for the Germany national football team. He played in 22 international games between 1931 and 1936.
He helped Germany get third place in the 1934 FIFA World Cup in Italy. He was also the captain of the German team. This team played in the Football at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin.
From 1939 to 1942, he was the chairman of Eintracht Frankfurt. This meant he was in charge of the club.
During World War II
Rudolf Gramlich joined the SS in 1936. The SS was a powerful group in Nazi Germany. In 1942, he worked as an SS officer in Krakow. This city was under German control at the time.
After the war ended in 1945, American forces arrested him. He was held in Frankfurt in 1947. He was questioned about his actions during the war. However, the case against him was later closed. He was cleared by other people who had also been in the SS.
After the War
Rudolf Gramlich became the chairman of Eintracht Frankfurt again. He held this role from 1955 to 1970. During this time, the club achieved great success.
In 1959, Eintracht Frankfurt won its only German championship. The next year, in 1960, they reached the European Cup final. They played against the famous Spanish team, Real Madrid. Eintracht Frankfurt lost the game 7-3.
In 2020, Eintracht Frankfurt made an important decision. They removed Gramlich's title of honorary president. This was because of his past involvement with the Nazi Party and the SS.
