Ruislip-Northwood was a special area in the United Kingdom that elected one person to the House of Commons. This is part of the UK Parliament, where laws are made. People living in Ruislip-Northwood voted for their chosen person, called a Member of Parliament (MP). This system is called "first past the post," meaning the candidate with the most votes wins.
The Ruislip-Northwood area was represented in Parliament from 1950 to 2010. It was located around the towns of Ruislip and Northwood in the London Borough of Hillingdon. All the MPs elected from this area were from the Conservative Party. They always won by a large number of votes, making it a "safe seat" for their party.

What is a Parliamentary Constituency?
A parliamentary constituency is like a special voting district. Each constituency in the UK chooses one person to represent them in the House of Commons. This person is called an MP. The MP's job is to speak up for the people in their area and help make decisions for the whole country.
History of Ruislip-Northwood
This voting area was created in 1950. Before that, it was part of a larger area called Uxbridge. But because many new houses were built in the area, it was split into two. Ruislip-Northwood covered the northern part of West London. It was a slightly hilly area, about 12 miles northwest of central London.
The three MPs who represented Ruislip-Northwood were all educated at Eton College. Because they won by so many votes, the area was known as a "safe seat." This means it was very likely to elect a Conservative MP each time.
In 2010, the Ruislip-Northwood constituency was changed. Most of its area became part of a new voting district called Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner.
