Running Creek is a small waterway, also known as a stream, located in the area of Chatham-Kent in Ontario, Canada. It is a natural channel that carries water, usually from rain or melting snow. Running Creek is an important part of the local water system.

This creek is connected to a larger network of waterways. It starts as a "distributary" of the Chenail Ecarté (The Snye). This means it branches off from the Chenail Ecarté, carrying some of its water away. Running Creek then flows into the North Sydenham River, making it a "tributary" to that river. All these waterways are part of the huge Great Lakes Basin.

The Journey of Running Creek

Running Creek begins its journey from the Chenail Ecarté (The Snye). The starting point is about 175 meters (or 574 feet) above sea level. From there, the creek flows towards the east.

Where Does it End?

Running Creek finishes its path when it reaches the North Sydenham River. This meeting point is on the north side of the town of Wallaceburg. The elevation at its mouth, where it joins the North Sydenham River, is also about 175 meters above sea level.

Part of a Bigger System

The North Sydenham River then continues its flow into the larger Sydenham River. This river eventually empties into Lake St. Clair. From Lake St. Clair, the water travels through the Detroit River and finally reaches Lake Erie. This shows how Running Creek, though small, is connected to one of the largest freshwater systems in the world!
