Rush Hill was officially started in 1881. This means its streets and lots were planned out and mapped. The village got its name from two of its founders, Mr. Reusch and Mr. Hill. They combined parts of their last names to create "Rush Hill." A post office has been open in Rush Hill since 1881, helping people send and receive mail for over a hundred years.
