Rustic is a small, quiet place in Larimer County, Colorado, United States. It is an "unincorporated community," which means it's a group of homes and buildings that are part of the larger county, without its own local government.
Rustic is nestled along State Highway 14 and the beautiful Cache La Poudre River. It's about 27.3 miles (44 kilometers) west-northwest of a bigger city called Fort Collins. Right next door to the west is another small community called Glen Echo.
The History of Rustic
In 1881, a person named S.B. Stewart built a special place called the Rustic Hotel here. It quickly became a very popular spot for tourists to visit during the summer months. People loved coming to this peaceful area for their vacations.
The community of Rustic officially started in 1882. It grew around the hotel, becoming a small hub for visitors and residents in the beautiful Colorado landscape.
Rustic's Climate
Rustic has a type of weather called an oceanic climate. This means it usually has mild temperatures and rain throughout the year. It doesn't get extremely hot or extremely cold very often.
The warmest temperature ever recorded in Rustic was 92°F (33°C). This happened on July 22, 2005, and again on June 17, 2021. The coldest temperature ever recorded was a chilly -27°F (-33°C) on March 4, 2019.
