Ryegate is a small town in Montana, United States. It is the main town, or county seat, of Golden Valley County. In 2020, about 223 people lived there. Ryegate is located on the north side of the Musselshell River.

History of Ryegate
Ryegate was started in 1908 by the Milwaukee Road. It was built as a place where trains could stop and pick up or drop off goods and people.
Geography and Climate
Ryegate is found in the state of Montana. U.S. Route 12, a major road, goes right through the town.
The town covers a total area of about 0.75 square miles (1.95 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water.
Ryegate's Climate
Ryegate has a semi-arid climate. This means it is usually dry, but it gets enough rain to support some plant life. It's not as dry as a desert.
