Sékou Koïta (born November 28, 1999) is a talented professional footballer from Mali. He plays as a forward for the Russian Premier League club CSKA Moscow. Sékou also represents his home country, playing for the Mali national team.

Club Career Highlights
Sékou Koïta started his journey in professional football with FC Liefering. He then moved to Red Bull Salzburg, a well-known club. In 2018, he played for Wolfsberger AC for a short time on loan. This means he played for them temporarily before returning to his main club.
Time at Red Bull Salzburg
Koïta signed a longer contract with Red Bull Salzburg in December 2019. He played many games for them and scored important goals. He was a key player in their team for several years.
A Difficult Moment
In February 2021, Koïta faced a challenge. He was suspended from playing football for three months by UEFA, the European football organization. This happened because a medicine he took for altitude sickness contained a substance that was on a banned list. UEFA decided that he did not mean to break any rules. Moving to CSKA Moscow
After his time at Red Bull Salzburg, Sékou Koïta made a big move. On July 8, 2024, he signed a three-year contract with CSKA Moscow. This club plays in the Russian Premier League, which is a top football league in Russia. He continues to play as a forward for his new team.

Success with Youth Teams
Koïta had great success with Mali's youth teams. In 2015, he helped the Mali Under-17 team win the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations. This was a very special moment, as it was Mali's first-ever African championship title in football. He scored two goals in that tournament.
