Club History and Name Changes

Early Days of Football in Castellammare

Football started in Castellammare di Stabia on March 19, 1907. The first club was called Stabia Sporting Club. In 1930, its name changed to F.C. Stabiese. However, in 1933, the club faced financial problems and had to close down.

Restarting as A.C. Stabia

The club was restarted in 1933 and named A.C. Stabia. This team even played in Serie B during the 1951–52 season. But in 1953, A.C. Stabia also ran into financial trouble and stopped playing.

The Rise of S.S. Juventus Stabia

After A.C. Stabia closed, another local team became the main club in 1953. This team was called Società Sportiva Juventus Stabia, and it had been founded in 1945. It continued the football tradition in Castellammare di Stabia. Sadly, in 2001, this club also faced financial difficulties and declared bankruptcy.

The Birth of S.S. Juve Stabia

In the summer of 2002, a businessman named Paolo D'Arco helped restart the club. He bought the sports rights of another team, Comprensorio Nola, which was in Serie D. He quickly renamed it Comprensorio Stabia.

By the summer of 2003, the club got its current name: S.S. Juve Stabia. The team quickly moved up through the leagues. They were promoted to Serie C2 and then to Serie C1 in the following years.

Promotions to Serie B

Juve Stabia had a big moment in the 2010–11 season. They were promoted to Serie B after 59 years! They played in Italy's second division for three seasons. After being relegated in 2013–14, they returned to Serie B for the 2019–20 season. They were relegated again after one season.

Most recently, Juve Stabia earned another promotion to Serie B for the 2024–25 season. This shows their determination to play at a high level in Italian football.
