Working with Animal House and Elektra Records
On September 28, 2001, Sacario signed a deal with Angie Martinez's company, Animal House Productions. Three months later, he also signed a record deal with Elektra Records. Their first song together was a new version, or remix, of "Live Big (Car Keys)". This remix featured Angie Martinez and rapper Fat Joe. It was also on The Transporter movie soundtrack.
While Sacario was also an artist, he became a very successful ghostwriter. This means he wrote songs for other artists without getting public credit. He wrote all the songs for Angie Martinez's album, Animal House.
The album Animal House started with the hit song "If I Could Go". This song featured Sacario and singer Lil Mo. It stayed on many Billboard music charts for 36 weeks in a row. These charts included The Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The song won two awards for being played on the radio many times. It was played 50,000 times and then 100,000 times!
The Kidz Bop Kids even recorded their own version of "If I Could Go". It was released on their children's album, Kidz Bop 3. This album became number one on the Billboard Kid Albums chart. It also reached number 17 on the Billboard 200 Album chart. This was the highest a children's album (not from a movie) had ever charted on the Billboard 200. Kidz Bop 3 sold over 500,000 copies and was certified Gold by the RIAA.
On August 20, 2002, Animal House debuted at number 11 on the Billboard 200 Album charts. It also reached number 6 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. It sold 92,000 copies in its first week. Rolling Stone magazine gave the album a good review. Sacario is also listed as one of the album's executive producers.
In 2004, Elektra Records closed its Urban Department. This happened when the president of Elektra Entertainment, Sylvia Rhone, moved to Universal Records.
Other Songs Sacario Wrote
Sacario also wrote songs for other artists. He wrote "Break Yourself" and "Harder" for the album Man vs. Machine. This album was by the rapper Xzibit. Man vs. Machine was certified Gold in the U.S. for selling over 500,000 copies. It also went Gold in Canada and Australia.
