Jamar Austin, known as Sacario, is an American rapper and songwriter. He is best known for writing the song "If I Could Go" for Angie Martinez. Billboard magazine named this song one of the biggest hits of 2002. It was featured on Totally Hits 2002: More Platinum Hits, which sold over 1,000,000 copies. This album was certified Platinum, meaning it sold a lot of copies.
Sacario's first two songs, "Live Big (Car Keys)" (2002) and "If I Could Go", were both on The Transporter movie soundtrack. The company EA Trax included "If I Could Go" with the NBA Live 2003 video game soundtrack. This soundtrack sold 1.3 million copies around the world. It was even listed in the Guinness World Records as the "first officially released video game soundtrack to be certified platinum." This means it was the first video game soundtrack to sell over a million copies. In 2004, MTV nominated Sacario for Mixtape Artist of the Year.

Working with Animal House and Elektra Records
On September 28, 2001, Sacario signed a deal with Angie Martinez's company, Animal House Productions. Three months later, he also signed a record deal with Elektra Records. Their first release together was a remix of "Live Big (Car Keys)". This remix included Angie Martinez and rapper Fat Joe. It was also featured on The Transporter movie soundtrack.
While signed as an artist, Sacario also became a successful ghostwriter. This means he wrote songs for other artists without getting public credit. He wrote all the songs for Angie Martinez's Animal House album.
The Animal House album started with the song "If I Could Go". This song featured Sacario and singer Lil Mo. It stayed on many Billboard music charts for 36 weeks in a row. These charts included The Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. The song also won two awards for being played on the radio many times.
The Kidz Bop Kids recorded their own version of "If I Could Go". This version was released on their children's album Kidz Bop 3. That album became number one on the Billboard Kid Albums chart. It also reached number 17 on the main Billboard 200 Album chart. This was the highest a children's album (that wasn't a movie soundtrack) had ever charted on the Billboard 200. Kidz Bop 3 sold over 500,000 copies, earning a Gold certification.
On August 20, 2002, Angie Martinez's Animal House album debuted at number 11 on the Billboard 200 Album charts. It also reached number 6 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts. It sold 92,000 copies in its first week. Sacario is also listed as one of the album's executive producers. This means he helped manage the making of the album.
In 2004, Elektra Records closed its Urban Department. This happened after Elektra Entertainment President Sylvia Rhone moved to a new position at Universal Records.
Other Songwriting Work
Sacario wrote the songs "Break Yourself" and "Harder" for the Man vs. Machine album. This album was by West Coast rapper Xzibit. Man vs. Machine sold over 500,000 copies in the U.S., earning a Gold record certification. It also received Gold certifications in Canada and Australia.
TV Performances
Sacario has performed on several TV shows. He appeared on Good Day Live and BET's 106 & Park. He also performed a freestyle rap on Rap City and had a short interview.
