The Sacred Heart Church is a religious building in Koror, Palau. It belongs to the Catholic Church. You can find it on the main street of Koror, which is an island and state in Palau. The church follows the Roman or Latin rite, which is a common way of worship in the Catholic Church. It is part of the Diocese of the Caroline Islands. This diocese is based in Weno, in the Federated States of Micronesia. It started as a special mission in 1886 and became a full diocese in 1979. This change happened through a special document called a "bull," issued by Pope John Paul II.

History of the Sacred Heart Church

The current church building has a long history. The first church, also called Sacred Heart (Sagrado Corazón), was built in 1892. This was during the time when Spain had control over the area. A new building was started in 1935. It took eight years to complete this new structure. When it was finally opened, local church members and Japanese officials attended the inauguration.
