Saddiq Jaleel Bey (pronounced sə-DEEK BAY; born April 9, 1999) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for the Washington Wizards in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before joining the NBA, he played college basketball for the Villanova Wildcats.

Early Life and High School Career
Saddiq Bey started his high school journey at DeMatha Catholic High School. Later, he moved to Sidwell Friends School. He also played for a youth basketball team called D.C. Premier.
When he was a freshman, Saddiq was about 5 feet 9 inches tall. He grew a lot during his high school years. In his junior year, he was a key player for Sidwell. He scored 14.5 points and grabbed 6.5 rebounds per game. He also helped his team win a conference championship. During his senior year, Saddiq averaged 21 points and 8 rebounds per game. He missed some games that year due to an ankle injury.
Saddiq was considered a top player by many experts. He was ranked as the 83rd best player in his class. He first planned to play for North Carolina State. However, he later decided to join the Villanova team. The Villanova coach, Jay Wright, had been watching Saddiq for a while.

Freshman Year at Villanova
In his very first game, Saddiq scored 16 points and had 4 rebounds. He played well in his first six games, averaging almost 16 points. On January 30, 2019, he achieved his first double-double. This means he had 16 points and 11 rebounds in one game.
Villanova won the Big East tournament that year. They were the first team to win three straight tournament titles. Saddiq helped with 16 points and 10 rebounds in the final game. As a freshman, he averaged 8.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. He was also named to the Big East All-Freshman Team.
Sophomore Year Success
Before his second year, Saddiq was put on the watchlist for the Julius Erving Award. This award goes to the best small forward in college basketball. On December 4, he scored 27 points to help Villanova win a game.
On January 11, 2020, Saddiq had his best game yet. He scored 33 points and made eight three-pointers. This helped the Wildcats win 80–66. He continued to play strongly, scoring 18 points in the next game.
At the end of the regular season, Saddiq was chosen for the first-team All-Big East. He also won the Robert V. Geasey Trophy. This award is for the best player in the Philadelphia Big 5 area. Saddiq then won the Julius Erving Award. He was the third Villanova player to win this award in six seasons. In his sophomore year, he averaged 16.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game.
Professional Basketball Career

Time with the Detroit Pistons (2020–2023)
Saddiq Bey was chosen as the 19th pick in the 2020 NBA draft by the Brooklyn Nets. The very next day, the Detroit Pistons got his draft rights in a trade. On December 1, the Pistons officially signed him.
On February 15, 2021, Saddiq was named the Eastern Conference Player of the Week. He finished fourth in the voting for NBA Rookie of the Year.
Saddiq made some exciting plays for the Pistons.
- On January 1, 2022, he made a game-winning three-pointer in overtime. This shot gave the Pistons a 117–116 victory.
- Two days later, he scored a career-high 34 points. He also had eight rebounds in a win against the Milwaukee Bucks.
- On March 17, 2022, Saddiq scored an amazing 51 points. He also had nine rebounds, four assists, and three steals in a win against the Orlando Magic.
- On March 23, 2022, he set a new Pistons record. He made 192 three-pointers in one season, breaking the old record.
- On January 4, 2023, he scored 17 points. He also made another game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer. This shot helped the Pistons win 122–119.
Playing for the Atlanta Hawks (2023–2024)
On February 9, 2023, Saddiq was traded to the Atlanta Hawks. He played his first game for the Hawks on February 13. He scored 12 points and had five rebounds in that game.
On January 28, 2024, Saddiq scored 26 points. He also made a game-winning dunk right at the end of the game. This helped the Hawks win 126–124. Sadly, on March 11, he suffered an ACL tear. This injury meant he could not play for the rest of the season.
Joining the Washington Wizards (2024–Present)
On July 12, 2024, Saddiq Bey signed a three-year contract with the Washington Wizards.
