Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne is a town in south-eastern France. It's located in the Savoie area, which is part of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It's also an important administrative center, known as a sub-prefecture. This means it's a main town for a part of the department.
The town sits in the beautiful Maurienne Valley, right by the Arc River. Long ago, it was a very important religious center. It was called 'Maurienne' or 'Moriana' in older languages.
