The arrondissement of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne is located in a beautiful area. To the north, it borders the Albertville arrondissement. To the east, it shares a border with Italy. The Hautes-Alpes département is to its south. To the west, you'll find the Isère département. Finally, to the northwest, it borders the Chambéry arrondissement.
This arrondissement is the most southern one in the Savoie département. It's also the second largest in size. It covers about 1,976 square kilometers (763 square miles).
