Lac Saint-Véran (which means Lake Saint-Véran in English) is a freshwater lake in Quebec, Canada. It is located in a wild area called Lac-Moncouche. This area is part of the Lac-Saint-Jean-Est Regional County Municipality in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region. The lake is also found in the western part of the Laurentides Wildlife Reserve. It sits very close to the border between the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean and Capitale-Nationale regions.
Forest roads run near the lake. These roads help with activities like cutting down trees (forestry) and fun outdoor activities (recreational tourism). Forestry is the main job in this area, with tourism coming in second.
The surface of Lac Saint-Véran usually freezes over from early December to late March. However, it is generally safe to walk or play on the ice from mid-December to mid-March.

Where is Lac Saint-Véran?
Lac Saint-Véran is a natural lake that is connected to Moncouche Lake on its southwest side. It is surrounded by mountains. The lake is about 2.9 km (1.8 mi) long and 0.6 km (0.37 mi) wide. It sits at an elevation of 399 m (1,309 ft) above sea level.

- North side: Starr Lake, Huard Lake, and the Métabetchouane River.
- East side: Étoile lake and Contourné stream.
- South side: Moncouche Lake, Contourné stream, and the rivière aux Montagnais.

How Water Flows from the Lake
From the southwest end of Lac Saint-Véran, the water flows into the Moncouche River. This river then flows for about 9.3 km (5.8 mi) generally south. The water then joins the Métabetchouane River, which flows north for about 83.9 km (52.1 mi) until it reaches the south shore of Lac Saint-Jean.
After that, the water crosses Lac Saint-Jean for about 22.8 km (14.2 mi) towards the northeast. It then follows the Saguenay River via La Petite Décharge for about 172.3 km (107.1 mi). Finally, the water reaches Tadoussac, where it mixes with the Estuary of Saint Lawrence and flows into the Atlantic Ocean.

Naming the Lake
The name "Lac Saint-Véran" was officially recognized on December 5, 1968. This was done by the Commission de toponymie du Québec, which is the official group in Quebec that names places.
