About Salem Creek
Salem Creek is an important part of the natural landscape in Central Ontario. It helps carry water from the land into Lake Ontario. This small creek is about 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) long.
Where Does it Start and End?
Salem Creek begins in an unknown spot, high up at about 140 meters (459 feet) above sea level. It then flows south, passing by a place called Salem Hill and the community of Salem.
As it travels, the creek goes under County Road 2. It also flows beneath the main railway tracks used by the Canadian National Railway and Canadian Pacific Railway. Finally, Salem Creek reaches its end, or "mouth," at Lake Ontario. Here, the water is much lower, at about 74.1 meters (243 feet) above sea level.
