Sally Carman-Duttine is a talented English actress. She was born in Mexborough, a town in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.

She is famous for playing two big roles on TV. From 2005 to 2013, she played Kelly Maguire in the Channel 4 comedy-drama show Shameless. Since 2017, she has been playing Abi Franklin in the popular ITV soap opera Coronation Street.

Acting Career

When Sally was 18, she went to a special acting school in London called the LAMDA drama school. This is where she learned many skills to become an actress.

Sally first appeared on TV in 1998 in an episode of City Central. Her first major TV role was in 2000, when she played Bridget Salsabill in the British drama Bomber. She has also appeared in other well-known TV shows like Doctors, Heartbeat, and Holby City. She even played Betty Haigh in a TV film called A is for Acid.

In 2005, Sally started appearing in Shameless as Kelly Maguire. Her character became more important in 2008, and from 2009 to 2013, she was one of the main actors in the show.

In 2011, Sally played a character named Marie in the movie Tyrannosaur. This film was written and directed by Paddy Considine.

On January 28, 2013, Sally appeared in an episode of Moving On called "The Shrine". She played Sarah, one of the main characters in that episode. Later that year, she also joined the BBC 1 drama Prisoners' Wives as Kim Haines.

In September 2014, Sally performed in a play called Kes at Cast in Doncaster. This play was based on the book A Kestrel for a Knave. Sally played Mrs Casper, who was the mother of the main character, Billy. In July 2015, she was the lead actor in a musical play called Dreamers at the Oldham Coliseum.

In 2016, Sally played DCI Sally Butcher in the final episodes of Silent Witness Series 19, called "River’s Edge".

In October 2017, Sally joined the cast of the very popular ITV soap opera, Coronation Street. She plays Abi Franklin, who is the mother of a teenage character named Seb Franklin (played by Harry Visinoni).

About Her Life

Sally Carman married her co-star Joe Duttine in 2022. Joe plays Tim Metcalfe in Coronation Street.

Sally is a Christian. She found her faith in 2015 and was baptised at St Philip's Church in Salford in 2019.

While filming Shameless, Sally learned about Reiki, which is a type of energy healing. She then trained at the Oldham Reiki Network. In March 2014, she even worked as a therapist at a place called Buddah Beauty, which offers holistic therapies, while still continuing her acting career.
