Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa (born 21 October 1969) is a very important leader in Bahrain. He is the Crown Prince, which means he is next in line to become king. He is also the Prime Minister of Bahrain, leading the country's government. Besides these roles, he helps lead the Bahrain Defence Force, which is Bahrain's military.

Early Life and Education
Prince Salman is the oldest son of King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain. His mother is Princess Sabika bint Ebrahim Al Khalifa.
He went to Bahrain School for his high school education. After that, he studied political science at the American University in Washington D.C., USA, and earned a degree in 1992. Later, in 1994, he got another degree in history and philosophy of science from Queens' College, Cambridge, in England.
In 1999, Prince Salman started a special program called the Crown Prince's International Scholarship Program. This program helps bright high school students from Bahrain get scholarships to study at universities in other countries. The goal is for these students to return home and help Bahrain grow and develop. So far, over 260 students have received this scholarship. They have studied in places like the UK, the USA, and France.
Prince Salman's Career and Leadership Roles



Before becoming Crown Prince, Salman held several important positions. From 1992 to 1995, he was the vice-chairman of the Bahrain Centre for Studies and Research (BCSR). He also served as the Undersecretary of Defence from 1995 to 1999.
On March 9, 1999, Salman officially became the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Bahrain. He also led the Bahrain Defence Force as its commander-in-chief from 1999 to 2008.
In 2001, Prince Salman was chosen to lead a committee. This committee worked on putting into action the National Action Charter of Bahrain. This Charter was a big plan for Bahrain's future, focusing on being open and working together. The committee suggested new laws to help make these goals happen.
Prince Salman was appointed chairman of the Economic Development Board in 2002. This board is in charge of planning how Bahrain's economy will grow. It also works to bring foreign direct investment into Bahrain. He also leads other important committees that deal with government, natural resources, and urban planning.
In 2008, King Hamad made Salman the deputy supreme commander of the Bahrain Defence Force. This role involves overseeing the military's plans and policies.
In 2013, the King appointed Prince Salman as the first Deputy Prime Minister of Bahrain. In this role, he helped guide the development of government groups and institutions in Bahrain.
On November 11, 2020, Prince Salman became the Prime Minister of Bahrain. He took over after his great uncle, Prince Khalifa bin Salman, passed away. Prince Khalifa had been Prime Minister for over fifty years.
In September 2022, Prince Salman attended the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in London.
Family Life
Prince Salman was married to Sheikha Hala bint Duaij Al Khalifa until 2005. Sheikha Hala was involved in helping women and children. She passed away in 2018.
Prince Salman and Sheikha Hala have four children:
- Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa (born 1990) is the second in line to become king of Bahrain. He studied at American University in Washington D.C. He is married and has three sons named Hamad, Abdullah, and Salman.
- Mohammed bin Salman Al Khalifa (born 1992) studied at Bahrain School and later at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and King's College London. He is sixth in line to the throne. He is married and has a son, Ahmad, and a daughter, Basma.
- Fatima – Al Dana bint Salman Al Khalifa
- Al Jude bint Salman Al Khalifa
Awards and Honors
Prince Salman has received many awards and honors from Bahrain and other countries. Some of these include:
- An honorary doctorate from the United States Sports Academy.
- Several orders and medals from Bahrain, such as the Order of Sheikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa and the King Hamad Order of the Renaissance.
- Awards from Jordan, Kuwait, the UAE, and the USA.
