Salto, also known as Saltos, is a special kind of area called a barrio in the town of San Sebastián, Puerto Rico. It's located in the beautiful Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 3,069 people lived in Salto.

A Look Back: Salto's History
The history of Salto is part of the larger story of Puerto Rico. After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened under the rules of the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became an unincorporated territory of the United States.
In 1899, the United States Department of War took a count of all the people in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census found that the combined population of Robles and Salto barrios was 1,646 people.

Weather Events: Río Culebrinas Flooding
Sometimes, natural events can affect communities. In late May 2019, Salto and many other areas in different towns faced some challenges. The Río Culebrinas (Culebrinas River) flooded its banks. This caused flooding in many places. There were also fallen trees, landslides, and some highways had to be closed.
