Samantha Harris is a well-known American television host, model, and actress. She was born Samantha Harris Shapiro on November 27, 1973. Many people know her as the co-host of the popular TV show Dancing with the Stars. She hosted the show for many seasons alongside Tom Bergeron. She has also worked as an entertainment reporter for shows like Entertainment Tonight.

Early Life and Family

Samantha Harris was born in Hopkins, Minnesota. Her father, Richard, was a rock 'n' roll promoter. Her mother, Bonnie Shapiro, was a dancer. In 1982, her parents started a special event called King Richard's Faire. This is a renaissance festival that takes place every year in Carver, Massachusetts. Samantha grew up in a Jewish family. She later went to college and graduated from Northwestern University.

Television Hosting Career

Samantha Harris has had a busy career hosting many different TV shows. She joined The Insider in 2008 as a substitute host. Before that, she worked as a correspondent for E! Entertainment Television's E! News. She also hosted a show called THS Investigates.

She helped cover big events like the Oscars, Golden Globes, and Emmys. She also appeared as a special reporter on Good Morning America. Earlier in her career, she was a weekend co-host for the show Extra. There, she interviewed many famous people.

Hosting Dancing with the Stars

Samantha Harris is most famous for co-hosting Dancing with the Stars. She started in 2006, taking over from Lisa Canning. She hosted the show from season two through season nine.

She announced in January 2010 that she would leave Dancing with the Stars. She wanted to focus on other projects. These included her work as a correspondent for The Insider and Entertainment Tonight. Brooke Burke, who won season seven of the show, became the new co-host.

Samantha has hosted other shows too. These include Fox's The Next Joe Millionaire. She also hosted AMC Access. She was a guest co-host on The View. Besides hosting, Samantha Harris has also acted in movies and TV shows. Her acting roles include D3: The Mighty Ducks and Beautiful. She also appeared in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

In 2009, Samantha made her debut on Broadway. She played the character Roxie Hart in the musical Chicago. She performed in the show for six weeks in New York City. After that, she also played Roxie in a touring version of the musical.

Personal Life and Health

Samantha Harris married Michael Hess in 2005. They have two daughters together. Their first daughter was born in 2007. Samantha missed the start of Dancing with the Stars season five when her daughter was born. Drew Lachey filled in for her. Their second daughter was born three years later.

In April 2014, Samantha shared that she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had surgery to treat it. By October 2014, she announced that she was cancer-free.
