The Sanctuary Wood Museum Hill 62 is a special place in Belgium. It is about 3 kilometers (about 2 miles) east of a town called Ypres. This museum is a private museum. It sits close to the Canadian Hill 62 Memorial and the Sanctuary Wood Cemetery. These places remember important events from World War I.
The museum was once owned by Jacques Schier. He was the grandson of the farmer who first owned this land. His family had the land even before World War I began. Jacques kept the museum just as his grandfather started it. Many visitors knew him as 'Fat Jacques'.
