About Sandra Gray
Early Life and Learning to Sew
Sandra Gray was born on June 27, 1956. Her father was in the Army. Her mother won a sewing machine in a game. She gave the machine to Sandra. Sandra taught herself how to sew. She made clothes for herself and her friends.
Starting in Wrestling Costumes
In 1994, Sandra lived in Marietta, Georgia. She was asked to make a costume for a wrestler named Marc Mero. Marc Mero said he found her through a newspaper ad. Sandra remembers Marc's girlfriend, Rena Greek, asking her. Rena had heard about Sandra's great sewing skills.
Sandra created a special costume for Marc Mero. This costume helped him become his famous character, Johnny B. Badd. This character was inspired by the musician Little Richard.
Designing for Top Wrestling Companies
Because of Marc Mero's costume, Sandra became very popular. Other wrestlers heard about her skills. With help from Miss Elizabeth and Lex Luger, she signed a special contract. This contract was with World Championship Wrestling (WCW). Most of WCW's assets were bought by the World Wrestling Federation in 2001.
Sandra Gray worked as a costume designer for WWE until 2015. She was often seen on the WWE reality TV show, Total Divas. In 2019, Sandra was hired by All Elite Wrestling (AEW). She works there as their in-house seamstress.
Famous Costumes and Clients
Sandra has designed costumes for many famous wrestlers. These include Layla El, Nikki Bella, Alicia Fox, Cameron, Dustin and Cody Rhodes. She also designed for Dolph Ziggler and Allie.
In 2016, Sandra created Naomi's famous glow-in-the-dark costumes. She also made wedding dresses for wrestlers. She designed Naomi's wedding dress for her 2014 marriage to Jimmy Uso. Sandra also made the dress for Penelope Ford's on-screen wedding. This wedding to Kip Sabian was shown on AEW Dynamite in February 2021.
Besides wrestling, Sandra has made other uniforms. She created the first cheerleader uniforms for the Houston Texans team. These uniforms debuted in September 2011.
Sandra's Shop
In 2016, Sandra Gray opened her own shop. It is located in Riverview, Florida. Her shop sells both her own new designs and cool vintage clothing.
