About Sandra Gray
Sandra Gray was born on June 27, 1956. Her father was in the Army. Her mother won a sewing machine in a bingo game. Sandra's mother gave the machine to her. Sandra taught herself how to sew. She started by making clothes for herself and her friends.
How Sandra Gray Started in Wrestling
In 1994, Sandra was living in Marietta, Georgia. She was asked to make a costume for a wrestler named Marc Mero. Marc Mero said he found her through a newspaper ad. However, Sandra remembers Marc's girlfriend, Rena Greek, asking her. Rena had heard about Sandra's great sewing skills.
The costume Sandra made for Marc Mero was very special. It helped create his famous character, Johnny B. Badd. This character was inspired by the musician Little Richard.
Becoming a Top Wrestling Designer
Because of the costume she made for Marc Mero, Sandra became very popular. Word spread quickly about her talent. She became a successful designer specializing in wrestling costumes.
With help from Miss Elizabeth and Lex Luger, Sandra signed a special contract. She worked exclusively for World Championship Wrestling (WCW). Later, in 2001, World Wrestling Federation (WWE) bought most of WCW's assets. Sandra continued to work as a costume designer for WWE until 2015.
In 2019, Sandra Gray joined All Elite Wrestling (AEW). She works there as their main seamstress. You might have seen her on the WWE reality TV show, Total Divas. After Sandra left WWE, another designer named Sarath Ton took over her role.
Famous Costumes and Clients
Sandra Gray has designed costumes for many famous wrestlers. Some of her clients include Layla El, Nikki Bella, Alicki Fox, and Cameron. She also made outfits for Dustin and Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler, and Allie.
In 2016, Sandra created Naomi's cool glow-in-the-dark costumes. These became Naomi's signature look. Sandra also designed wedding dresses for wrestlers. She made Naomi's wedding dress for her 2014 marriage to Jimmy Uso. She also created the dress for Penelope Ford's on-screen wedding to Kip Sabian in 2021 on AEW Dynamite.
Besides wrestling, Sandra has made other uniforms. She designed the first cheerleader uniforms for the Houston Texans football team. Their squad debuted in September 2011.
Sandra's Shop
In 2016, Sandra Gray opened her own shop. It is located in Riverview, Florida. In her shop, she sells her own unique designs. She also sells vintage clothing.
