History of Santa Ana
Santa Ana was started as a mission in 1755. A person named Julian Knogler founded it.
Where is Santa Ana?
Santa Ana is the main town of Cantón Santa Ana. It is found in the San Ignacio de Velasco Municipality. This municipality is part of the José Miguel de Velasco Province.
A World Heritage Site
Santa Ana is famous for being part of the Jesuit Missions of the Chiquitos. These missions were built a long time ago. In 1990, they became a World Heritage Site. This means they are very important places that are protected.
The town is 464 meters (about 1,522 feet) above sea level. It is in the Chiqitanía region. This area is between the city of Santa Cruz and the border with Brazil.
Getting to Santa Ana
Santa Ana is about 441 kilometers (274 miles) northeast of Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz is the capital city of the department.
Roads to Santa Ana
To get there, you can take a national road called Ruta 4. This road goes north to Montero, Santa Cruz. There, it connects with Ruta 10.
Ruta 10 goes east for 339 kilometers (211 miles). It passes through towns like San Ramón, San Javier, and Santa Rosa de la Roca. Eventually, it reaches San Ignacio de Velasco.
From San Ignacio, a dirt road goes south. After about 45 kilometers (28 miles), this road passes right through Santa Ana. It also goes to San Rafael de Velasco.
