Santa Cruz del Norte is a town and a special area (called a municipality) in Cuba. It is located in the Mayabeque Province. Before 2011, it was part of the La Habana Province. This town sits on the northern coast of Cuba. You can find it between the big cities of Havana and Matanzas. The Santa Cruz River flows into the sea right here.

The town of Santa Cruz del Norte was started in the year 1800. Back then, it was mainly a fishing village. It officially became a municipality in 1931.

This town is famous for being the main home of the Havana Club rum distillery. Many types of dark rum are made right here in Santa Cruz del Norte. You can even visit the distillery on a special tour.

Other important activities in the municipality include making energy (power generation). They also get oil from the ground and, of course, continue with fishing.
