A Look at History
After the Spanish–American War, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened because of a peace agreement called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became a special area of the United States.
In 1899, the United States government counted all the people in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census showed that 793 people lived in the Santa Rosa barrio at that time. Over the years, the number of people living in Santa Rosa changed. By 2010, the census recorded that no one lived there.
