Santiago Hernán Solari Poggio (born on October 7, 1976) is a famous Argentine football player and manager. He played as a left midfielder, which is a player who helps both attack and defend on the left side of the field.
Santiago spent most of his 16-year career playing in Spain. He played many games for Real Madrid and also for Inter Milan in Italy. He won 13 big trophies with these teams. After he stopped playing, Solari became a coach in 2013. He worked with Real Madrid in different coaching roles for several years.

Santiago Solari started his football journey in Argentina. He played for youth teams like Newell's Old Boys. Later, he joined River Plate, a big club in Argentina. He helped River Plate win several league titles.
Playing in Spain
In 1999, Solari moved to Spain to play for Atlético Madrid. He played well there, even though the team was relegated from the top league. After that, he moved to Real Madrid, one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Success with Real Madrid
At Real Madrid, Santiago Solari became an important player. He often came on as a substitute, but he always made a big impact. In the 2001–02 UEFA Champions League final, he played the whole game. He was part of the play that led to Zinedine Zidane's amazing goal, helping Real Madrid win the Champions League. This is one of the most famous goals in football history! He played 49 Champions League matches for Real Madrid, scoring seven goals.
Time with Inter Milan and Other Clubs

Coaching at Real Madrid
In 2013, Solari began coaching the youth teams at Real Madrid. He then became the coach for Real Madrid Castilla, which is Real Madrid's reserve team.
In October 2018, he was chosen to be the temporary manager for Real Madrid's main team. He did so well that he became the official coach a few weeks later. During his time as manager, Real Madrid won the 2018 FIFA Club World Cup. This made it three wins in a row for Real Madrid in that competition! However, he left the role in March 2019.
Coaching Club América
In December 2020, Solari became the new manager for Club América in Mexico. He signed a two-year contract with them. He led the team to a second-place finish in the league. He also guided them to the final of the CONCACAF Champions League in 2021, but they lost the match. He left Club América in March 2022.

Santiago Solari was a very skilled player. He was a left-footed winger, which means he played on the left side of the field and was good at attacking. He was known for his excellent dribbling skills, where he could move the ball past defenders easily. He was also a good passer and could shoot the ball powerfully with both feet.
