Playing for Football Clubs
Santiago Urkiaga was born in Barakaldo, a town in Spain. He spent nine seasons playing for Athletic Bilbao, a very strong local team. He was a key player when the club won the La Liga title two years in a row (1983 and 1984). During these winning seasons, he played in all 67 games.

Santiago Urkiaga stopped playing football in June 1989, when he was 31 years old.
