Starting Out in 2014

In 2014, Sara Tomic mostly played on the ITF Junior Circuit. This is a special circuit for young tennis players. She received "wildcards" into some big tournaments. A wildcard is a special invitation that lets a player enter a tournament even if their ranking isn't high enough.

She played in the Sydney International and the Australian Open. She also played in the Burnie International. In these events, she lost in the first round.

However, in junior events, Sara had more success. She won a Grade-4 event in Kawana. She also won a Grade-B2 event in Lautoka, Fiji. She was also a runner-up in two other junior tournaments. In doubles, she won two titles with her partner Xu Shilin. One of these was the important Grade-A Osaka Mayor's Cup.

Moving to the Pros in 2015

In 2015, Sara again received wildcards for big tournaments. She played in the Sydney International. She also got a wildcard for the qualifying rounds and doubles event at the Australian Open. In the singles qualifying, she lost in the first round. In the doubles event, she and Naiktha Bains lost to sisters Anastasia Rodionova and Arina Rodionova.

At the junior Australian Open, Sara reached the third round. She also made it to the semifinals in the doubles event with Xu Shilin.

Later in 2015, Sara decided to focus on playing in professional tournaments. This decision paid off! In July, she won her first professional title in Sharm El Sheikh. This win helped her ranking go up, placing her among the top 500 players.
