Anastasia Ivanovna Rodionova (Russian: Анастасия Ивановна Родионова; born on May 12, 1982) is a former professional tennis player. She was born in Russia and later became an Australian citizen.
Anastasia won 11 doubles titles on the WTA Tour. She also earned eight singles and 13 doubles titles on the ITF Circuit. Her highest singles ranking was world No. 62 on August 16, 2010. In doubles, she reached world No. 15 on September 8, 2014.
Her best results were in doubles. She reached the mixed-doubles final at the 2003 Wimbledon Championships with Andy Ram. She also made it to the semifinals of the women's doubles at the 2010 US Open with Cara Black.
Her younger sister, Arina, is also a professional tennis player. The sisters sometimes played doubles tournaments together. They reached the finals at the 2010 Malaysian Open and 2015 Monterrey Open.

About Anastasia Rodionova
Anastasia started playing tennis when she was 7 years old. However, she was around tennis even earlier. Her father, Ivan, was an amateur player. He coached her until she was 18. Then, she left her hometown of Tambov and moved to Germany to train for three years. In 2003, she returned to Moscow. Since 2005, she has lived in Melbourne, Australia. Her sister, Arina, also became a professional tennis player in 2004.
Anastasia's Tennis Journey
Early Career Highlights
In 2006, Anastasia entered the top 100 singles players for the first time. This happened after she reached the second round in a tournament in Los Angeles. At the US Open, she made it to the third round in singles, which was her best result in a Grand Slam at that time. She also reached a WTA doubles final in Bangalore, India, with Elena Vesnina. She won her 11th ITF doubles title in Italy with her sister Arina.
In 2007, Anastasia played in many WTA tournaments. At the Australian Open, she reached the second round. She lost to Maria Sharapova, who was ranked No. 2 in the world. At the Estoril Open, she won her second doubles title with Andreea Ehritt-Vanc. She finished 2007 ranked 78th in singles.
Overcoming Challenges
Anastasia faced some challenges in 2008. She had eye problems and later needed hip surgery. Despite this, she played under the Australian flag for the first time at the Australian Open. She reached the second round there. She also had some good wins against top-30 players. In India, she defeated Sybille Bammer, who was ranked No. 20.
In September 2008, Anastasia had major hip surgery in Melbourne. This was to fix an injury she had since 2003.
Returning to the Court
The first half of 2009 was about recovering and getting stronger after her hip surgery. She also injured her ankle and a leg muscle. At the US Open, she reached the third round in singles, matching her best result. She ended 2009 back in the top 100, at No. 97.
Success in 2010
In 2010, Anastasia and her sister Arina reached the doubles finals of the Malaysian Open. They played a very close match but lost in a tie-breaker.
Anastasia also played for the Australian Fed Cup team for the first time. She won her match, helping Australia secure a spot in World Group I for 2011.
At the French Open, she defeated the 22nd seed Vera Zvonareva to reach the third round. At Wimbledon, she also made it to the third round after beating the 19th seed Svetlana Kuznetsova.
Her biggest doubles success came at the US Open. Partnering with Cara Black, they reached the semifinals. This was Anastasia's first time reaching the semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament. She also reached her highest doubles ranking of world No. 28.
Later in 2010, Anastasia represented Australia at the Commonwealth Games. She won two gold medals: one in singles and one in women's doubles with Sally Peers. She also won a silver medal in mixed doubles with Paul Hanley. She finished 2010 ranked No. 64 in singles.
Continuing Her Journey
In 2011, Anastasia continued to play in many tournaments. She reached the quarterfinals in doubles at the Australian Open and the French Open. She also made it to the quarterfinals in mixed doubles at the Australian Open.
In 2012, Anastasia won her fourth WTA doubles title at the Pattaya Open with Sania Mirza. She also reached the semifinals in doubles at the Qatar Open. At the US Open, she reached the quarterfinals in mixed doubles.
In 2013, Anastasia won her fifth WTA doubles title at the Auckland Open with Cara Black. They defeated three seeded teams to win the title.
In 2014, Anastasia had great results in doubles with Alla Kudryavtseva. They won three tournaments together. They also reached the semifinals at the Beijing and Cincinnati tournaments. Their strong performance earned them a spot in the WTA Finals in Singapore, where they reached the semifinals.
Anastasia retired from professional tennis in August 2023.
