Sarah bint Yousef Al Amiri (born in 1987) is a very important person in the government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). She is currently the Minister of Education. Before this, she was the Minister of State for Advanced Technology.
Sarah Al Amiri also leads the UAE Space Agency. She is the head of the UAE Council of Scientists. She also helps manage the exciting Emirates Mars Mission.

Early Life and Education
Sarah Al Amiri was born in the United Arab Emirates in 1987. She grew up in the city of Abu Dhabi. She loved learning about space and engineering from a young age.
She went to the American University of Sharjah. There, she studied computer science. She earned both her bachelor's and master's degrees from this university. When she was growing up, the UAE did not have its own space program.
Her Amazing Career and Research
Sarah Al Amiri started her career at a place called the Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology. She worked on two important satellites there. These satellites were named DubaiSat-1 and DubaiSat-2.
In 2016, she became the head of the Emirates Scientist Council. This council helps guide science in the UAE. In 2018, she was also made chairwoman of the UAE Council for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This council looks at new technologies.
Leading the Hope Mars Mission
Sarah Al Amiri is the science lead for the Emirates Mars Mission. This mission is also known as "Hope." It is a big project to send a probe to Mars. The mission works with universities in the United States. These include the University of Colorado Boulder and Arizona State University.
She gave a talk at TEDxDubai Salon about the Hope Mars Mission. In November 2017, she became the first Emirati person to speak at an international TED event. She spoke about the Mars mission in Louisiana, USA.
The Hope Mars Mission probe launched into space in July 2020. It reached Mars in February 2021. This was a special time, as it was the 50th anniversary of the United Arab Emirates.
Awards and Recognition
In 2015, the World Economic Forum recognized her. They named her one of their 50 Young Scientists. This was for her great work in science, technology, and engineering.
In October 2017, she became the Minister of State for Advanced Sciences. This was a big step in her career. To help science around the world, she visited many science places in the US.
In November 2020, the BBC included her on their list of 100 Women (BBC). This list highlights inspiring women from around the globe. In February 2021, she was also named in the 2021 Time 100 Next list. This list features 100 influential people who are shaping the future.
In May 2022, she was appointed Minister of State for Public Education and Future Technology. She also became the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Schools Establishment.
