Sarah also studied ballet as a child. At only 11 years old, she became the youngest British actress to play Alice on screen. This was in a 1973 TV film called Alice Through the Looking Glass. Before joining Doctor Who, she also appeared in other TV shows like The Moon Stallion (1978).
Becoming Nyssa in Doctor Who
Sarah Sutton joined Doctor Who in 1981. She played the character of Nyssa, who was an alien aristocrat from a planet called Traken. Her first appearance was in an episode called The Keeper of Traken.

After leaving Doctor Who, Sarah Sutton took a break from acting. She spent several years focusing on raising her daughter. She did make a short return to Doctor Who in 1984 for Peter Davison's final episode, The Caves of Androzani.
In 1993, Sarah played Nyssa again for a special Doctor Who episode called Dimensions in Time. This was for a charity event called Children in Need. Since 1999, she has often returned to play Nyssa in many Doctor Who spin-off audio plays made by Big Finish Productions.
