Sri Satyatma Tirtha (IAST: Śrī Satyātma-tīrtha), born on March 8, 1973, is an important Hindu philosopher and spiritual leader from India. He is the current head of the Uttaradi Math, a famous religious center. He is the 42nd leader since Madhvacharya, who was a key figure in the Dvaita philosophy. In 1998, Satyatma Tirtha started Vishwa Madhwa Maha Parishat, an organization that helps people and promotes religious values.

Early Life

Sri Satyatma Tirtha was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, on March 8, 1973. His birth name was Sarvajna. He came from a family of well-known scholars. His father was Pandit Rangacharya Guttal, and his mother was K.S. Rukmabai. His grandfather was also a respected spiritual leader, Shri Satyapramoda Tīrtha Swamiji.

Becoming a Monk (Sannyasa)

Sarvajna decided to become a sannyāsi, or monk, when he was 23 years old. This happened on April 24, 1996, in Tirukoilur, Tamil Nadu. He received his new name, Satyātma Tīrtha, from his grandfather, Shri Satyapramoda Tīrtha Swamiji. He is also called Abhinava Raghūttama Tīrtharu because he became a monk directly from being a student (brahmacharya). He is only the second leader of the Uttaradi Math to do this.

Helping the Community

Sri Satyatma Tirtha believes in helping society. Through the Uttaradi Math, he supports important causes.

  • He encouraged Rajendra Singh, known as the "waterman of India," to speak about saving water.
  • He helps needy students by giving about ₹5 lakhs (around US$10,000) each year. This is done through Uttaradi Math and Vishwa Madhwa Maha Parishat.

Flood Relief Efforts

He has provided help to people affected by floods.

  • In 2009, he sent relief supplies to flood victims in several districts of Karnataka.
  • He also helped build 100 low-cost homes for those who lost their houses.
  • He adopted a village in Raichur, Karnataka, to help it develop.
  • He wants religious centers to play a bigger role in solving modern problems.
