Savo Milošević (born 2 September 1973) is a Serbian professional football manager and former player. He was a powerful forward who scored many goals.
Savo became famous playing for Partizan in Serbia. After that, he joined the English club Aston Villa. He spent most of his playing career in Spain, scoring 91 goals in 241 games for teams like Zaragoza, Espanyol, Celta, and Osasuna. Over 16 years, Milošević played for eight different clubs and scored over 220 goals in almost 600 official matches.
He also played for his country, Serbia, more than 100 times. He played in two World Cups and one European Championship. At UEFA Euro 2000, he was one of the top goal scorers, earning the Golden Boot award.

Playing Career Highlights
Starting at Partizan
Savo Milošević began playing football when he was six years old. When he was 14, scouts from Partizan noticed his talent. They brought him to the club, which was a big step for his career.
In 1992, Milošević started playing for Partizan's main team. In his first season, he scored 14 goals in 31 games. He continued to score many goals, becoming the top scorer in the league for two seasons in a row. During this time, Partizan won two national championships, including both the league and cup in the 1993–94 season.
Time with Aston Villa
In 1995, Savo Milošević moved to England to play for Aston Villa. He was bought for a club record fee of £3.5 million. He played for Aston Villa for three seasons.
During his time there, he scored 33 goals in 117 games. This included a goal in the 1996 Football League Cup final, where Aston Villa won 3–0 against Leeds United.
Playing in Spain and Italy
In 1998, Milošević joined the Spanish club Real Zaragoza for £8.5 million. He continued to score many goals, especially 21 goals in the 1999–2000 season. This helped Zaragoza finish fourth in the league.
After his success in Spain, Milošević moved to Italy in 2000 to play for Parma. He played regularly in his first season, scoring 8 goals. However, in his second season, he did not play as much.
He then returned to Spain on loan. He played for Zaragoza again in 2002, scoring six goals. He also played for Espanyol in the 2002–03 season and Celta de Vigo in the 2003–04 season. With Celta, he helped the team reach the round of 16 in the UEFA Champions League for the first time.
Later Years in Football
In 2004, at 30 years old, Milošević signed with another Spanish club, Osasuna. In his second season with them, he scored 11 goals in 32 games. This helped Osasuna qualify for the UEFA Champions League. He also helped them reach the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup in the 2006–07 season.
After leaving Osasuna in 2007, he took a break from football. In 2008, he joined Rubin Kazan in Russia. On 2 November 2008, he scored the winning goal that secured Rubin Kazan their first ever national championship. He retired from playing football shortly after, at the age of 35.
International Matches
Savo Milošević played for the Yugoslavia under-21 team and reached the final of the 1992 Toulon Tournament. He later played 102 games for the senior national team of Serbia (which was first called Federal Republic of Yugoslavia). His first international game was in 1994 against Brazil. He scored 37 goals for his country over 14 years.
He played in the 1998 FIFA World Cup. At UEFA Euro 2000, he scored five goals, which made him one of the top scorers and earned him the Golden Boot award. He shared this award with Dutch player Patrick Kluivert.
In 2006, Milošević played his 100th international game during the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. This made him the first Serbian player to reach this amazing milestone. He officially said goodbye to international football in a friendly game in 2008, where he scored two goals.
Becoming a Manager
Assistant Manager Role
From 2011 to 2012, Savo Milošević worked as an assistant manager for the Montenegro national team.
Managing Partizan
On 27 March 2019, Milošević became the new manager of Partizan, his former club. His first win as manager was a 3–2 victory against Čukarički.
In his first season as manager, he helped Partizan qualify for the UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds. On 23 May 2019, he won his first trophy as a manager when Partizan beat Red Star Belgrade 1–0 in the Serbian Cup final.
In the summer of 2019, Partizan successfully reached the group stages of the UEFA Europa League for the ninth time. They beat teams like Connah's Quay Nomads, Yeni Malatyaspor, and Molde to get there.
Other Manager Roles
On 16 June 2021, Milošević became the manager of Olimpija Ljubljana in Slovenia. He left the club a few months later, on 10 October 2021.
On 29 September 2023, he was appointed as the head coach of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. He won his first game in charge against Liechtenstein. His contract with Bosnia and Herzegovina ended on 21 March 2024.
In late September 2024, Milošević returned to manage Partizan again.
Personal Life
Savo Milošević was born in Bijeljina, which is now in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He grew up there with his younger brother and sister. He also has Bosnian citizenship.
He was a supporter of the Democratic Party in Serbia and became a member in 2003. He was involved in protests in the 1990s.
Milošević is married to Vesna, and they have two sons and a daughter. One of his sons, Nikola, also became a footballer.
