How Savoy Got Its Name
The village of Savoy was named after Princess Maria Clotilde of Savoy. She visited the area in 1861. The village officially became a town on April 10, 1956.

Henry M. Dunlap (1853–1938) was a well-known farmer and state legislator from Illinois. He lived in Savoy for many years.
