School of Rock is a super fun American musical comedy movie that came out in 2003. It stars the hilarious Jack Black as a rock and roll musician who pretends to be a substitute teacher.
Story of the Movie
The movie is about a musician named Dewey Finn, played by Jack Black. Dewey loves rock music, but he gets kicked out of his band. He lives with his friend, Ned Schneebly, who is a substitute teacher.
Dewey needs money to pay his rent. One day, he sees a phone call for Ned asking him to be a substitute teacher at a fancy private school. Dewey decides to pretend to be Ned and takes the job!
When Dewey gets to the school in Woodbury, New York, he quickly realizes the kids in his class are super talented musicians. Instead of teaching them regular school subjects, he secretly starts teaching them how to play rock music. He wants them to become his new band!
Their big goal is to compete in a local music contest called the "Battle of the Bands." The kids work really hard and get excited about playing rock music.
However, Ned's girlfriend finds out that Dewey has been pretending to be Ned. She tells the school principal, and Dewey gets fired from his fake teaching job.
Dewey is sad, but the kids don't give up. They really want to play at the Battle of the Bands. So, they get a school bus, pick Dewey up, and make sure they perform at the concert.
They play their hearts out, but they don't win the contest. Even though they lose, the audience loves them! The movie ends with Dewey starting a special "School of Rock" where the kids can keep taking music lessons at his place.
What Happened Next
For a while, people talked about making a School of Rock 2 movie. This was confirmed on July 14, 2008. However, in 2012, Jack Black said that a sequel probably wouldn't happen.
