Schram City is found right in the middle of Montgomery County. The city of Hillsboro, which is the county seat, borders Schram City on its north, west, and south sides. This means Hillsboro is very close by!

Illinois Route 16 is an important road that goes through the village. If you travel west on this road for about 2 miles, you'll reach the center of Hillsboro. Going northeast for about 14 miles will take you to Nokomis.
The village covers an area of about 0.67 square miles (1.74 km2), and all of it is land. Water from Schram City flows into small streams that lead to the Middle Fork of Shoal Creek. This creek is part of the larger Kaskaskia River system. Just north of the village, you'll find Lake Hillsboro. This lake is a reservoir, which means it stores water, and it's fed by some of the local streams.
