About IndieFlix
In 2005, Scilla Andreen launched Indieflix. It started as a service for DVDs and streaming. IndieFlix helps independent filmmakers. It also offers movies, TV shows, and documentaries that aim to make positive changes in the world.
IndieFlix has more than ten thousand films from 85 countries. In 2007, Scilla changed the service to focus on streaming. She created a special payment model called RPM (Revenue per minute). This model pays filmmakers for every minute their films are watched.
In 2016, IndieFlix became focused on "edutainment." This means it offers films that are both educational and entertaining. It now streams over 5,000 carefully chosen films. Scilla also helps create original IndieFlix documentaries. These films are shown in schools, companies, and communities in over 50 countries. They connect people through film both online and offline.
IndieFlix is different from most other film companies. It pays filmmakers based on how many minutes their films are viewed. This way, filmmakers get to keep most of the money. Scilla has been recognized in Variety magazine for her impact. She is also a popular speaker at major film events. These include Sundance, Cannes, and SXSW.
