Scinax flavidus La Marca, 2004 |
The Scinax manriquei is a type of frog that belongs to the Hylidae family, also known as tree frogs. This frog was first discovered and described in 2004 in Venezuela. Interestingly, another frog, Scinax flavidus, was described in the same year from Colombia. Scientists later realized that these two frogs were actually the same species! Because Scinax manriquei was named first, its name is now used for both.
About the Scinax Manriquei Frog
This special frog lives in the lower parts of the Andes Mountains in both Colombia and Venezuela. It can be found in different kinds of places.
Where They Live
Scinax manriquei frogs are often found in "cloud forests." These are forests high up in the mountains where there is often a lot of mist and clouds. They also live in areas that have been changed by people, like farms or other disturbed places. This shows they can adapt to different environments.
