Scooby-Doo and the Witch's Ghost is an exciting animated film from 1999. It's the second movie in the Scooby-Doo series made especially for home video. This film was created by Hanna-Barbera Cartoons. It came out on VHS and DVD on October 5, 1999.

In this movie, the Mystery Inc. gang travels to a town called Oakhaven. They were invited by a famous horror writer named Ben Ravencroft. Unlike many other Scooby-Doo stories, this film features real supernatural events. This gives the movie a slightly darker and more mysterious feel.

This film was also one of the first four Scooby-Doo movies animated in Japan. A studio called Mook Animation helped bring it to life. It was also the first time Scott Innes voiced Shaggy. The previous voice actor, Billy West, was busy with another show.

The Spooky Story: What Happens?

After helping solve a mystery at a museum, Ben Ravencroft invites Mystery Inc. to his hometown. Velma Dinkley is a big fan of Ben's horror books. The town, Oakhaven, Massachusetts, has become a tourist spot. It's filled with old-fashioned buildings and attractions. These are based on the legend of Sarah Ravencroft, Ben's ancestor. People say she was a witch who was executed in 1657.

Ben believes Sarah was actually a Wiccan, a person who used natural remedies. He has been looking for her old medical journal. He hopes it will prove she was innocent.

Scooby-Doo and Shaggy Rogers get chased by a witch! They run into Ben and the rest of the gang. They find broken tree branches nearby. Then, they meet an all-female rock band called The Hex Girls. The band's leader is Sally "Thorn" McKnight.

The gang decides to split up. Fred and Daphne watch The Hex Girls. Velma and Ben explore an old barn. Shaggy and Scooby follow the Mayor. Fred and Daphne see Thorn doing something that looks like a ritual. They start to think The Hex Girls might be witches. Velma and Ben find a cherry picker truck in the barn. Scooby and Shaggy run into the witch again and quickly escape to the gang.

Everyone, including The Hex Girls and Ben, meets in the woods. The witch appears, but Velma catches her. The witch turns out to be Mr. McKnight, Thorn's father and the town's pharmacist. Velma explains that the truck's arm made the witch seem to fly. Many townspeople were involved in this trick.

Back at Ben's house, Thorn explains her "ritual." It was just a herbal remedy for her singing voice. She also says she is descended from Wiccans. Mayor Corey and Mr. McKnight arrive to apologize to Ben. They used his ancestor for their tourist stunt. They found Sarah's grave marker and kept it a secret from Ben. They thought it would upset him. A shoe buckle Scooby found earlier was actually the lock from Sarah's journal.

Scooby leads the group to where he found the lock. He digs up a box with the journal inside. But it's not a medical journal; it's a spellbook! Ben then reveals that Sarah was a witch. She used her magic against the townspeople. Wiccans used their nature-based powers to trap her in the spellbook. Ben explains that he is a warlock, a male witch. He set up the museum mystery to meet Mystery Inc. He knew they could help him find the book.

Ben takes the book and summons Sarah. But she doesn't care about him. She wants to destroy the world, not rule it with him. Ben tries to put Sarah back in the book. But she says only a Wiccan can defeat her. She traps Ben in a magic bubble.

The gang tries to get the book. Sarah turns pumpkins and trees into monsters. She also makes a turkey huge to stop them. Daphne and Velma free The Hex Girls. Velma convinces Thorn to use her Wiccan power. Thorn uses her power to trap Sarah back in the book. The monsters, except for the giant turkey, turn back to normal. Sarah pulls Ben into the book with her. A burning branch falls on the book and burns it. This makes sure the Ravencrofts can never return.

The gang and the townspeople celebrate. The Hex Girls perform a concert. The gang and the giant turkey even join in the fun!
