On television, Scoot McNairy starred in the TV show Halt and Catch Fire from 2014 to 2017. He also played Bill McNue in the Netflix series Godless (2017). Early Life and Childhood
Scoot McNairy was born on November 11, 1977, in Dallas, Texas. His parents are Alicia Ann McNairy and Stewart Hall McNairy. Besides their home in Dallas, his family had a ranch in Paris, Texas. They would spend weekends and holidays there.
When he was young, Scoot enjoyed theater programs after school. His father started calling him "Scooter" when he was about two years old. Scoot shared that the nickname came from him "scooting around on my butt."
Scoot has also mentioned that he is "highly dyslexic." He went to a special school for dyslexia for four years. He sees himself as a visual learner. This is why he was drawn to films. He went to Lake Highlands High School.
Scoot's Acting Career
Starting in Hollywood
When he was 18, Scoot McNairy moved to Austin, Texas. He went to the University of Texas at Austin. In 2001, he was in a movie called Wrong Numbers. This film won an award at the Austin Film Festival.
Scoot was interested in filming and photography. He moved to Los Angeles to study film. After a year, he left school. He started working on film sets, building things. Then, he worked as an extra in movies. He later got steady work in over 200 TV commercials. Eventually, he started getting roles in bigger movies. He has been acting since 2001.
