Scott Robert Mills (born 28 March 1973) is a well-known English radio DJ and television presenter. He is famous for hosting the Scott Mills show on BBC Radio 1 for many years. Since 2022, he has been on BBC Radio 2. He has also been a UK commentator for the semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Scott Mills' Radio Journey
Starting Out in Radio
Scott Mills began his radio career at just 16 years old. He started as a DJ at Power FM, a local radio station in Hampshire. He sent them many demo tapes until they gave him a chance.
He first presented shows from 1:00 am to 6:00 am, six nights a week. This made him the youngest regular presenter on a major commercial radio station. Later, he moved to the busy 'drive time' slot in the late afternoon.
After Power FM, Scott worked at GWR FM Bristol for two years. Then, he joined Piccadilly Key 103 in Manchester. He started on late-night shows before moving to the mid-morning slot. In 1995, Scott began working for the new London station Heart 106.2. He also did voice-overs for various in-store radio stations and TV channels.
Time at BBC Radio 1
Scott Mills joined BBC Radio 1 in October 1998. He first hosted the early morning show from 4 am to 7 am. In January 2004, he moved to a weekend afternoon slot. Later that year, he moved to the weekday early-evening slot. This slot became permanent, and his show was named The Scott Mills Show.
In April 2012, his show moved to an afternoon slot. While at Radio 1, Scott also filled in for other presenters. He hosted The Official Chart from June 2018 to August 2022.
On 1 July 2022, it was announced that Scott would leave Radio 1 after 24 years. He moved to BBC Radio 2 to take over the afternoon show from Steve Wright. Scott Mills started his new show on 31 October 2022.
Moving to BBC Radio 2
Before joining BBC Radio 2 full-time, Scott Mills often covered shows there. He hosted a late-night show in March 2017. In May 2018, he presented a Bank Holiday Monday show called Radio 2 Remix. He even presented on Radio 1 and Radio 2 on the same day!
In April 2019, Scott filled in for Rylan Clark on Radio 2's Saturday afternoon show. From 2021 to 2022, he was the regular stand-in for Ken Bruce.
As mentioned, Scott joined Radio 2 permanently on 31 October 2022. His show runs from 2 pm to 4 pm. On 19 November 2024, it was announced that Scott would take over the main breakfast show on Radio 2. He has presented that show since 27 January 2025.
Working with BBC Radio 5 Live
On 17 October 2019, it was announced that Scott Mills and his Radio 1 co-presenter Chris Stark would host a show on BBC Radio 5 Live. Their show was part of the station's new weekend line-up. It started on 9 November 2019 and was broadcast from 9 am to 11 am. Their final show on Radio 5 Live was on 20 August 2022.

Scott Mills has appeared on many television shows. He has acted in dramas and appeared as himself. He played a reporter named Paul Lang in the BBC medical drama Casualty in 2006 and 2007. He also had a small role in the Scottish soap opera River City. In 2008, he appeared as a police officer in the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks.
Scott has been a contestant or guest on shows like Mastermind, Supermarket Sweep, and Never Mind the Buzzcocks. He also narrated the music TV show The Pop Years. He presented the Wednesday night National Lottery draw on BBC One. He also hosted a BBC Three show called Radio 1 on Three, which was inspired by his radio show.
In 2014, Scott Mills took part in series 12 of Strictly Come Dancing. His dance partner was Joanne Clifton. They finished 11th in the competition.
Scott and his co-presenter Chris Stark won the first episode of Robot Wars: Battle of the Stars in 2016. Their robot was called Arena Cleaner. More recently, Scott and his husband Sam won the second series of Celebrity Race Across the World. They traveled across South America.
Other Activities
In February 2011, Scott Mills took part in the BT Charity Trek for Comic Relief's Red Nose Day. He and other celebrities walked 100 kilometres (62 miles) in the Kaisut desert in north Kenya. Temperatures reached up to 40 °C.
In November 2022, Scott raised over £1 million for Children in Need. He did this by walking on a Treadmill for twenty-four hours straight.
Personal Life and Achievements
Scott Mills grew up near Southampton, England. He attended Shakespeare Infant School and Crestwood College Secondary School in Eastleigh. He now lives in London.
Scott's parents are separated, but they sometimes appear on his radio show.
He received an honorary Doctorate of Arts from Southampton Solent University in November 2009. A bridge over the M3 at Fleet services was officially named The Scott Mills Bridge on 16 March 2016. A plaque was unveiled to mark the occasion.
Scott Mills got engaged to Sam Vaughan in October 2021. They had been together for four years. They got married in Vilanova i la Geltrú, Spain, in June 2024.
